Julia Rose: If you've ever come across the beginning of most 90's movies there is generally a typical theme. For some reason the 90's were really big on starting a scene with women in minimal makeup and overalls riding their bikes through new neighborhoods, or painting a fresh apartment wall, shopping at farmers markets, or washing their faces all to the musical styling of Natalie Merchant and Tracy Chapman. When I was a kid we used to have this small white radio my mother kept on a shelf outside the bathtub. When the sun came through that bathroom window and danced against the walls of the shower to Taylor Dane and all the other 90's beats I would often imagine myself as one of those women, starting my day in a 90's movie morning. To me, it was a mindset, a way of being. A simple stage of satisfaction or reflection or beginning. A time of change. My mornings are no longer in the 1990-whatevers. But sometimes, I still come across that feeling. This blog is dedicated to those songs and those mornings. My mood matched with song choice and the thoughts on my life at the moment.
